whatever happened to British Knights? BK was the primary sponsor of Double Dare for as long as i can remember watching the show, but i never knew anyone who actually owned a pair of BKs, or BK Knights, as they were sometimes called (which never made any sense since removing the acronym would then spell British Knights Knights, but then why do they call the Diamondbacks closer BK Kim when his name is Byung-Hyun? it's a mystery). BKs were always kinda cool because they were the weird shoe you saw on Double Dare, but did anyone ever even see a pair of 'em? those things were hideous! they definitely weren't as hot as my two-strip velcro Keds, or my LA Gear Lights, the shoe that lit up when you walked but the light was on the back so only other people and not the person actually wearing the shoe could see the lights. then there were the Reebok Pumps, which didn't really pump up much at all. come to think about it, the early 90's were a strange time for footwear. i wonder what it be like if Manolo Blahnik made children's athletic shoes. (see girls: this is why you shouldn't let your otherwise heterosexual brothers learn what dailycandy is) # Comments []

ever notice how when you're up late working and a few minutes pass in a new hour, you suddenly don't think it's late anymore? like if the clock says 2:58 am, you think it's late, but when the clock hits 3:03 am, you're suddenly like Chris Barron from Spin Doctors going "it's not late (no, no, no), it's early." am i the only one who does this? # Comments []

there's a kid in my history class who takes notes on a graph notebook instead of a regular one. it took me awhile to come around on people who use unlined paper notebooks, but eventually i saw the good in that (you can do much better doodling while not paying attention in class with the unlined stuff). but this makes no sense to me. unlined paper at least is kinda freeing. for people who don't like staying in the lines, it makes sense. but then why graph paper - it's more constricting! are you suddenly going to want to draw to-scale maps of eastern europe circa 1941 that will require a perfect 8x8 grid? i don't get it. # Comments []

For the record it's 3:15 am and I am still working. I have made 6 new posts today alone (7 after i finish this one) and not one of them is of any substance. I always wondered what it would be like to keep kinda a running journal of what the other side of my brain is thinking about while I'm working on a paper. Now I know, and I'm an idiot. # Comments []

isn't it amazing how things are so interesting to you when you are putting off doing work? it's almost 10:30 and i have no idea what the hell i did all day. i swear that procrastination creates this bizarre sort of amnesia that blocks your mind from realizing (or caring) what time it is or what it is that you've spent the past seven hours doing. instead, you're merely whipped back into the seemingly-fascinating world of mindless websites, instant messages, and snood. isn't it also amazing how it's only when you're putting off work that you have all these great ideas for stuff that you would totally do if you didn't have work but would never have thought of had you actually had the free time to do stuff? "if i didn't have this paper to write, i would totally go to an art museum and then see a show." but when you do have free time, what do you do? sit around in what you slept in, eat some pizza, and immerse yourself in more mindless websites, instant messages, and snood. # Comments []

well i knew it would happen, and sure enough, fate just called my cell. i am referring, of course, to Blake's Second Law of WorkNights: when you absolutely have to work and cannot under any circumstances go out, your friends will always call you to invite you to join them to do something that sounds fantastic. in this instance, my pied-piper-like friend Ben just called to say that, after attending a killer concert, he's found his way to Central Park with a group of about 10 friends, and they are currently staging a makeshift performance themselves - literally - on a stage in Central Park. they're all probably very drunk and very entertained right now. i, meanwhile, am left frustrated and miserable, wanting (in no particular order) a couple days off and an apology from the government of Turkey. # Comments []

what is the deal with people who end IM conversations by saying "peace" ? look i'm as much for world unity as the next guy, but you're not a mid-90's rapper, and this isn't in the pop culture lexicon anymore. can't you just say "later" or "bye" like the rest of us and have a nice day? ok i'm steppin off the soapbox now... # Comments []

three more days gone by, three days closer to the dreaded reality of being homeless at vassar. other than this relative black cloud looming over my head, the weekend was fantastic, and i will attempt to quickly catch up -- to make it interesting -- without the aid of most currently accepted forms of grammaratical notation: following an overpriced but delightfully entertaining dinner friday night at commune, i bowled a 171 at bobrow's birthday party at chelsea piers, a score so ridiculous that it actually scared away everyone else to the point that it was the only game we played all night. proudly clutching my non-existent award for Ruler of the Short-Sleeve Buttondown (that would be my indian name if i had one) wandered over to pop, where i half-drunkenly lay and exposed my nipples for the next two hours (ask someone who was there), all the while feeling way too cool for myself. finally found my way to Bar None, which, according to their website, is "the funnest bar in all of new york" (that is not a typo). despite not having the "funnest" time ever, i did get a kick out of being hit on by a strange looking girl with an eyebrow ring and a hole in her nose peddling jello shots at five bucks a pop. [insert apparent paragraph break here] saturday was relaxing during the day, and wonderful at night, highlighted by the makeshift party i threw at my house that took form as a result of my just-back-from-italy-and-still-feeling-very-european friend, arielle informing me that she was bringing three more heads with her to dinner. headed back in early this evening, hit the dreaded post-Hamptons sunday traffic, followed by the heavily disappointing post-Hamptons Sex and the City episode, and have now spent the past two hours procrastinating the decision to either read about genocide or go to sleep. it appears sleep would be the best option here... # Comments []

One billion people... One thousand languages... And a surprising number of places to seek inner peace.

If that's not the best ad ever placed by the Indian Ministry of Tourism, then i wouldn't do Amaya from Real World Hawaii. # Comments []

the doritos chick and... a.c. slater? ubervixen ali landry is apparently now dating none other than mario lopez, who up until this point hadn't done anything in the past 10 years besides play Greg Louganis on a made-for-TV movie and wear shortshorts on a poorly-acted show about bike cops. slater definitely hasn't won this big since he beat that sketchy guy from Valley to win the state title. # Comments []

i swear this housing thing is going to give me an ulcer. my latest idea is to rent a 10 x 10 plot of land in the center of 124 Raymond Ave. and to erect a trailer where i will live, work, and create my very own voyeurdorm. if that doesn't work, i might just stay in New York and open my own bar. # Comments []
